Forget the Resolutions

Forget the list of resolutions you made last year.  Do you like feeling like a failure?

Instead make a list of your accomplishments from last year.    Some people would call it a “year end review”.  Others say make a “ta-da” list rather than a “to-do” list.

Did you lose weight or inches in your waist?  What helped?  What did not help?

Did your A1C get better?  How much better?  Did you feel better?

Did you check your blood sugar more often? Did knowledge help with any decisions?

What helped you exercise and what did not help?

What worked better as far as remembering your medication?  Was it better to associate them with meals or at a certain time of day?

What were situations which you handled well?  What situations were challenging?

What people helped the most with your diabetes?  Who did not help?

Any phone apps you used which helped with your diet or with your diabetes?

For 2019,   build on your accomplishments of  2018.  What would you add to these victories which would help even more?  Old habits are hard to change, but if you make progress each year, you have won a victory.

New Year’s Day is a time to celebrate the previous year and make plans for 2019 to be even better.
