At Lucas Research, we have a more helpful and less frightening approach. Clinical Research involves trials in humans after the medications have been tried in multiple animal studies and in normal young adults without problems.
Every medication currently approved had to go through 3 levels of human research. Phase 1 studies are using the medication in healthy volunteers to assess side-effects. Phase 2 studies look for the perfect dose in subjects with the disease that the medication helps. Phase 3 is a larger study to compare the drug to a placebo (non-drug) and see how effective it is. After Phase 3, the medication is sent to the FDA for review.
